Loosen Up! Different Techniques for Painting Flowers in Acrylics with Bob Burridge

May 3, 2018 by Ralph S Leave a Comment

In this tutorial, Bob Burrage invites us into an exciting painting session. He kicks things off by applying Burt’s Bees hand salve to his hands, a clever alternative to wearing gloves. He’s ready to dive in with a palette centered around green, complemented by hot pink for the focal point and blue and orange for extra zing.

Bob wastes no time in getting his canvas covered in green, using paint and isopropyl alcohol to add interesting textures and effects. He shares two techniques he loves: turning a chaotic mix of colors into a coherent image through negative shape painting and applying black paint to reveal the painting by wiping parts away.

Bob’s approach is all about having fun and trying new things. He walks viewers through the process with a clear and engaging style, offering tips on choosing colors, applying paint, and letting the artwork come to life. He encourages artists to follow their gut and enjoy the ride.

By the end of the tutorial, Bob creates a standout piece of art and inspires a more profound love for the creative process and the courage to experiment with art.
