Artist Spotlight – Becky Joy

May 5, 2011 by Ralph S 4 Comments

Artist Name: Becky Joy

Location: Phoenix

Title of Artwork: Sunlight Through the Oak

Dimensions of Artwork: 14×18

Medium: Oil

Support: Canvas

Website: http://beckyjoy.com

Describe this Piece: Oil on canvas with sunlight coming through the branches as a focal point. The colors become cooler and less pure as they move away from the focal point of the light. The field in front of the oak tree is a warm gray. All the grays in the painting help to create the glow of the light.

At first glance I thought it was an explosion, but I then realized it’s a tree on a sunset. I hope I’m right!
