Below is a short but very informative and helpful demonstration on how to paint a basic blue sky with acrylics. It really is a simple process once you get the hang of it. In this demonstration, Will Kemp first pre mixes his blues from light to dark using ultramarine, phthalo blue and titanium white acrylic paint. Then he applies the paint from dark to light on the canvas. The darkest blue on top down to the lightest blue on the horizon. He blends the paints along the way using a glazing medium to create a believable blue sky.
